I woke up early the other morning to explore Austin by foot. Making my way around the state capitol, I found myself standing here at the Texas African American History Memorial.

I just stood there with tears in my eyes while capitol workers walked by, with coffee in hand, on their way to work.

I wonder at what point do they become comfortable with the setting and just walk past the memorial without a thought?

No offense to them. No offense to anyone. But, we walk by too much, too often. We get too comfortable, too easy.

I can’t. I won’t… until all are free.
